The News From Bruner’s Brood – December 30, 2015 Print E-mail
Hello everyone!

As I write this to you, it is hard to believe that 2015 is nearing an end and that 2016 is not far away! Here is a news update for Facebook and after a busy fall and Christmas season.

My on-call work has continued as a substitute organist/church musician since late August for church services and funerals, both with the Osterøy Lutheran Parish and for services south of Osterøy in the Samnanger municipality as a church musician with Ådland Lutheran Church. On Sunday, November 29th, my wife and I were delighted to have both Hannah Moira and Ingrid Sofie play an advent service with me at Ådland. I was also asked to play four services over the Christmas season in both Haus and Gjerstad on the island of Osterøy from December 24-26. For two of those Christmas services, I debuted a song I composed for the Christmas season titled “Christmas is Here.” I will have the sheet music available for sale soon for the melody and piano arrangement in the coming weeks.

In late August 2015, I received a one year temporary position as a piano teacher with the Bergen Public Culture School, a tax-supported culture school in the Municipality of Bergen. I am filling in for a piano teacher who is on education leave until June 2016.  This culture school has asked me to develop an accompaniment program for Norwegian instrumental folk music, which I have been working on as a part of my job description. More details will be announced on this later.

I had five Christmas events to conduct with three choirs during fall 2015 with the Bergen Women’s Choir Damekoret Toneveld, the Tysnes Chamber Choir and Os Chamber Choir.  Some choir performance dates for spring 2016 are posted on my Facebook artist page and at, with more dates to come.

Planning from a distance continues with entertainment chairlady Susan Hansen in planning music performances for The Village of Canwood’s 100th anniversary, which will take place from July 29-July 31, 2016. Plans are in the works for a Parkland Fiddlers Reunion and other additional entertainment come this special weekend. More details will be announced on and my Facebook artist page as the dates get closer. For those wishing to attend these celebrations, please check for more information on the weekend celebrations.

I will be back in Saskatchewan during summer 2016 for performances with The Cleavers at the Northern Lights Casino in Prince Albert on Monday, July 25th and the John Arcand Fiddle Fest in Saskatoon from August 11th-14th. I have also been reconfirmed as a house accompanist for the Pembroke Fiddle and Step Dance Contest in Pembroke, Ontario on the Labour Day weekend of September 2nd-3rd, 2016.

I reviewed five original piano solos I composed in the 1990s but were never recorded or released in sheet music format as I was not satisfied with them at the time. I looked at them again this fall, edited them and completed their notation as time permitted through the fall. These five compositions are now printed and available for sale from the webshop at

In closing, on behalf of my wife Hilde and our entire family: Silje, Hogne, Hannah Moira and Ingrid Sofie, we trust that wherever you are in the world, that you have had or will have a happy holiday season and all the best in 2016. Until next time, see you somewhere down the musical trail!

Musically yours, Trent
