Columbi Egg - A Good Idea with Patti and Alex Lamoureux Print E-mail

Hello from Bergen! Monday, May 2nd was the third of a four concert tour of Norway with Patti & Alex Lamoureux as we played the concluding concert in Columbi Egg's 2010-2011 concert series. We were part of a double bill with Norwegian fiddler Ragnild Furebotten from Moen, Norway, along with guitarist Bendik Lund Haanshus and accordionist Skjalg Bjørstad. For the third show in a row, we had a Canadian from in the audience, this time from Ottawa via Winnipeg!

It was a rainy evening in Bergen as we played before an enthusiastic audience at the Hotell Augustin in Bergen as part of the final concert for Columbi Egg's 2010-2011 season. This traditional folk music concert series will resume in fall 2011 with another great lineup of concerts featuring local and interational acts. Both Ragnhild and Patti performed 45 minute sets each and joined concert organizer Gabriel Fliflet for a finale that featured tunes common to Norway and Canada, followed by a back room jam session at the hotel after the concert was finished. We admired Ragnhild's group for their playing ability and performance skills, as well as enjoyed their company throughout the evening. From all three of us to you, Ragnhild, Bendik and Skjalg, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talents and company with us.

We also thank Gabriel Fliflet of Columbi Egg for organizing this concert for us. For those of you who don't know, Gabriel is an accomplished accordionist as a soloist and with many groups thorughout the Bergen area, a highly regarded accordion teacher, and a very capable organizer for the Columbi Egg Folk Music Concert Series. It has been thorugh his efforts that many Monday nights have been filled with traditional folk music for the residents of Bergen and area. Many of the locals agree because in Norwegian, the phrase "Columbi Egg" means "a good idea." Many have been faithful to this concert series for many years with their attendance and support. We are delighted to be a part of the many good ideas that have been part of this concert series since its beginnings.

More news will come after the final show at the Osterøy Museum on Tuesday, May 3rd!  Until next time, enjoy your day/evening, depending on where you are!

Musically Yours, Trent
