On June 18, 2011, the sibling fiddle duo Ambos (Silje and Hogne Midtbø Vevle) gave a one hour concert of Norwegian hardanger and Canadian fiddle tunes with Yours truly accompanying on piano at the Ole Bull House, otherwise known as Bullahuset, in Valestrand, Norway, north of Bergen.

Most of the audience was local with some families in attendance. There were also tourists visiting from Oslo in attendance at the concert as well.  On a Saturday evening when there were at least ten other concerts taking place in the Bergen area, we were the first concert on the list for this particiular Saturday evening, according to Bergen's daily newspaper Bergens Tidende were appreciative of those who came out to support us.

The concert was a pre-release performance for the duo’s upcoming debut CD “Our Way,” which will be recorded later this summer with scheduled release to take place on Friday, August 12th at the John Arcand Fiddle Fest in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I had the opportunity to perform an original piano solo named “Linn Tiril” while our seven year old daughter Hannah Moira performed twice during the concert with performances of a medley consisting of Irish melody “Dawning of the Day” and Norwegian folk melody “Silkje-Per,” along with her own composition from December 2010 titled “Hannah Moira’s Christmas Polka.” We were pleasantly surprised at the end of the concert to receive a standing ovation for our efforts.

We give special thanks to local newspaper Bygdanytt for the concert promotion, Bullahuset for providing the venue, and to Thor-Jürgen Greve Løberg for his photography help and printing posters for the concert. Mostly, we thank all who attended the concert in preparation for recording the CD later this summer. Your support will always be appreciated by our family. HAVE A GOOD MUSICAL SUMMER!

Musically Yours, Trent
