New Piano Solos and More Music News - August 2012 Print E-mail
Hello again! I'm delighted to share with you the latest happenings on my musical journeys  in both Europe and Canada. I've also got some more new piano compositions written up in sheet music format for those of you who are interested! Here's the latest....

Firstly, I have ten new original piano solos that are now up on the website for sale, both in the secular and religious musical lines. Check the webshop under Piano Solos-Sheet Music for the following new titles:

A Higher Calling
After the Sunrise
Friends of Unneland
Howard and Gerda's Anniversary Waltz
Jubal's Song
One Step Forward
Remember the Dream
The Joy of Mercy
The Walk of Faith

Secondly, I had the chance to appear again at Back to Batoche Days as house accompanist for the fiddling, jigging and square dance portions of the weekend from July 19th-22nd. I was able to play at this festival with house fiddlers John Arcand and Desmond Lagace, along with guest fiddlers J.J. Lavallee and Alex Lamoureux. As usual, the Red River Jig was often heard throughout the grounds as the dancers took their turns showing their favourite and best steps both in competition and show. I also had one date with George Pistun (fiddle) and Lucas Welsh (guitar) at the Northern Lights Casino's Monday Night Fiddle Night in Prince Albert the next evening, July 23rd. Thanks to all who came out for these performances.

Thirdly, I also had the chance to be house accompanist for the 15th annual John Arcand Fiddle Fest from August 9th-12th at Windy Acres Vacation Farm southwest of Saskatoon, and for the first time officially, I had the chance to be listed as an official solo entertainer for the Friday night welcome show! I must admit that house accompanists don't get these chances too often to be a soloist, but I wish to publicly thank John and Vicki for this opportunity. I would be certainly glad to do this again if offered the chance. Congratulations to all who made this 15th annual festival another success. Contest results can be found at

Fourthly, I have been asked by the Osterøy Lutheran Parish in Norway to be a chrurch organist, childrens' choir director and church musician until December 31st, 2012, as the two staff organists, Kåre Rivenes and Liv Skoglund, are on temporary leaves of absence. Linda Rea Herland is the other organist who will be on as temporary staff until July 31, 2013. I look forward to using my talents for the work of the church in The Lord's service during this period. Some of the new piano compositions for sale have come from my preparation work for this period.

Fifthly, I will be back at the Northern Lights Casino in Prince Albert August 20th with Lucas Welsh (fiddle) and Garry Larson (guitar). This is before I take off for Ottawa, Ontario to accompany Calvin Vollrath as guest artist for the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championship August 25th, the Valley Heritage Radio fundraising show and dance in nearby Arnprior, Ontario on August 28th, then the Pembroke Fiddle and Stepdance Contest August 31st and September 1st as one of two house accompanists for this contest. I then return to Norway after the Labour Day weekend for conducting choirs and assisting in church worship for the fall.

Stay tuned to this website for more information and updates as the days and weeks progress. Thanks again for your kind support and please spread the word to all your family, friends and neighbours about what is happening here. See you soon down the musical trail!!

Musically yours, Trent
