THE NEWS FROM BRUNER’S BROOD CANADA DAY UPDATE – JULY 1, 2026 ALL OF MINE VOLUME SIX & OUR DAUGHTERS' ACHIEVEMENTS

Hello, everyone!

As I write this article from Valestrand on the Norwegian island of Osterøy, I trust all is well with you and that your musical experiences have been enjoyable and pleasant. For those who have recently liked and followed my artist page since my last posting on May 29, 2026, thank you very much for your interest and kind support, as I warmly welcome all the new followers who have come onboard. Since the school year is finished in Norway, I have been able to complete music notation for various clients and do some promotion for a concert mentioned later in this article. July 1st is not just Canada Day (Canada’s official national holiday), but also a time when I sometimes have a book of original music to release in some form. This year, it will be a music book of new original fiddle tunes. “All of Mine - Volume 6,” is now available for sale in PDF through my website at www.trentbruner.com! This release is not just a new book of original fiddle tunes, but part of a composing project that has been off and on as I have been planning two new books of original fiddle tunes for eventual release. “All of Mine - Volume 6” is another collection of 60 original fiddle tunes I composed for various places, people, pets and events that have been part of my life at one time or another from times in Canada and Europe. As Hannah Moira said to the audience during her second year student concert at the Norwegian Conservatory of Music in Oslo June 6th, “Dad writes tunes for almost anyone he meets!”  The list of new tunes in this release are:

The other original fiddle tune book is still a work in progress. It will be another collection I have either written or co-written with other fiddlers or have had members of my family compose as part of their school music projects. Because this past school year has been a busy one for all in our family, and between my various roles as church organist, substitute music teacher, choir conductor and composing a tune as moments allowed, there was only enough time to release one fiddle book now. When everything is in place with all the tunes and co-composers, the next original fiddle tune book will be released.

As for our family, Hannah Moira will have family company in Oslo at the Norwegian Conservatory of Music come the fall. Ingrid Sofie, our youngest, has been accepted into bachelor studies in Norwegian traditional folk music performance, which is the same program Hannah Moira is enrolled in. Ingrid Sofie had her formal Grade 13 graduation ceremony with classmates and teachers at Langhaugen High School in Bergen on Thursday, June 18th, followed by a later gathering for the graduating music class and their parents at Sædalen Lutheran Church that same evening, where parents brought various finger foods, desserts and refreshments. As time moves on, Hilde and I will have an empty nest in our house.

In addition, because our daughters hold Norwegian and Canadian citizenships, Hannah Moira submitted an audition video to compete in the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Competition, Canada’s official national fiddling championship. Canadian citizens and permanent residents who show competency in at least one recognized Canadian fiddle style and have either received top championship class results in Canadian fiddle contests or have been recognized by the Canadian Grand Masters (CGM) as worthy of competing at this level. She is the third fiddler with dual citizenship in the history of the CGM to be accepted to compete! This means that she not only needs to practice Canadian fiddle tunes, but we need money to cover plane tickets from Norway to Canada! We have started organizing and promotion for a fundraising concert at “Den Grøne Fabrikken” in Hosanger, Thursday, August 6th at 7:00 PM CEDT for Hannah and me to perform.
